Specialist Programs
At Yanchep Beach Primary School, we believe in developing the whole child. While literacy and numeracy will always be essential skills, it is also essential that children are challenged to develop their creativity, social skills, fitness and artistic talents.
We therefore employ a team of highly qualified specialist teachers to offer programs that include;
- Visual Arts
- Music
- Physical Education
- Science, and
- LOTE.
Every child has an opportunity to take part in these programs as a part of their weekly curriculum.
In addition, many of our dedicated teachers volunteer their time to organise extra-curricular activities, either before or after school, such as team sport, run club, art club, musical productions, coding club, triathlon club and much more.
This ensures that every child, no matter their talents or interests, can shine at Yanchep Beach Primary School.

Languages
At Yanchep Beach Primary School, our Languages program provides students from Years 3 to 6 with opportunities to learn a second language and develop an understanding of different cultures and communities.
Students learn Indonesian, where they explore Indonesian culture and learn basic phrases and functional language for communication. Lessons are highly interactive, cumulative and connected to the wider primary curriculum. Pre‑Primary students are introduced to Indonesian through their Early Childhood program.
Learning a language broadens students’ worldviews, builds confidence in communication and provides a strong foundation for future language learning in secondary school.
Visual Arts
At Yanchep Beach Primary School, Visual Arts is a vibrant and valued part of our curriculum, where every student is encouraged to explore, create, and express themselves as confident young artists.
Aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum, students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 engage with the Visual Arts content descriptors through the strands of Making and Responding. Students in Pre-Primary to Year 6 participate in one 55-minute Visual Arts lesson each week in our well-resourced, specialist art room. Guided by a dedicated art teacher, they develop practical skills, build an art vocabulary, and learn to reflect on their own creative processes in a safe and supportive environment.
Our program is carefully sequenced to build skills and understanding across each year level:
- Pre-Primary: Explore materials through play, experimenting with colour, texture, and shape.
- Year 1 – Year 2: Develop foundational skills in drawing, painting, and construction while expressing ideas.
- Year 3 – Year 4: Refine techniques across a range of media, exploring composition, pattern, and cultural influences.
- Year 5 – Year 6: Extend skills through more complex processes including printmaking, mixed media, and digital art, with a focus on planning and evaluation.
Across all year levels, students engage in diverse art forms while exploring styles, cultures, and the elements of art. The program fosters imagination, curiosity, and creative thinking, supporting students to develop confidence and resilience in their artistic journey.
A highlight of our program is the annual whole-school art exhibition, where each year a new and exciting theme brings our community together to celebrate creativity. From immersive installations to collaborative displays, every student contributes a unique artwork inspired by the yearly theme, transforming our school into a dynamic gallery space. Special projects throughout the year also provide opportunities for students to showcase their work within the school and wider community.

Visual Arts opportunities extend beyond the classroom. Students across all year levels can participate in creative experiences during recess art sessions, while after-school Art Club for upper primary students provides additional opportunities to explore techniques, experiment with materials, and work on passion projects in a supportive and inspiring environment.
We believe that art is for EVERYBODY. Our Visual Arts program nurtures imagination, celebrates individuality, and provides meaningful opportunities for every student to connect, create, and shine.
