ICT
ICT at Yanchep Beach Primary School
ICT is an acronym for Information and Communication Technology
At YBPS we value and recognise that technology already has a ubiquitous place in the lives of our students. We aim to deliver curriculum using ICT tools wherever possible to enable students to not only become highly competent users but also appreciate the risks, their responsibilities and the adaptabilities of these learning tools. We also aim to encourage creativity and a solutions focused approach through the use of ICT tools in the firm belief the lives of our students will be greatly influenced by technology.
Our Press Start iPad Program
Yanchep Beach PS recognises the need for students to be safe and responsible users of digital technologies. Press Start is Yanchep Beach Primary School’s student iPad engagement program. It looks different in every year group from Kindergarten all the way through to Year 6.
In K to 3, students access the school common iPads allocated to their class/year group.
In Year 4, students are allocated a school iPad which is for their use throughout the year. The Year 4 Press Start Program is based on the idea that every student has daily access to an iPad in order to engage and enable them to develop skills and habits for successful 21st century learning.
In Year 5 and 6, students are encouraged to bring in a personal iPad for use at school. The Year 5/6 Press Start Program is based on the idea that every student has daily access to an iPad in order to engage and enable them to develop skills and habits for successful 21st century learning.
(The school can provide school iPads for those unable to bring in their own).
Press Start Agreement Forms
We believe that explicitly teaching students about safe and responsible online behaviours is essential, and is best taught in partnership with parents/guardians. We request that parents/guardians work with us and encourage this behaviour at home.
At the beginning of the year, all classes from K to Year 6, go through explicit lessons on how to be Respectful and Responisble Learners whilst engaging with the Press Start Program. Students and families are required to complete Press Start Agreement Forms.
