PBS
PBS at YBPS
Yanchep Beach Primary School started its PBS journey in 2016. PBS stands for Positive Behaviour Support in Schools. It is a way of helping our students to learn positive school behaviours by explicit teaching and staff modelling teamed with positive reinforcement. Our PBS goal is to help our students understand what is expected of them when they enter each and every context at school; whether it is the classroom, assembly, the library or even the toilet!
This process is driven by our dedicated PBS Team consisting of Teachers, Administration Staff, School Captains and Parents.

PBS VALUES
Everything we do at our school is underpinned by our
FIVE PBS VALUES:
We are RESPECTFUL;
We are RESPONSIBLE;
We are POSITIVE;
We are LEARNERS;
We are STRONG.
Our PBS Matrices
Around our school you can clearly see our main PBS Matrix!
This is where our Positive Behaviour Expectations are on display for students, staff and parents to know what is expected of them in different areas of the school.

Our School Mascot
In 2023, we unveiled our School Mascot. Our Mascot is based on our school's connection with the ocean and the Fish Philosophy!
Our mascot appears at whole school assemblies and big school events!
Our Mini Mascots
To hope teach our students about our PBS VALUES, we have PBS Mini Mascots that represent one of each of the values.
Presenting:
Respectful Reef Shark
Responsible Stingwray
Positive Pufferfish
Learner Lobster
Strong Seahorse
Every class in Kindy and
Pre-Primary has their own set of Mini Mascots.
Students in Year 1 to 6 can earn the Mini Mascots by their class being awarded the PBS Award at our whole school assemblies.
RRPLS
RRPLS (pronounced ripples) are our Positive Behaviour Tokens.
Students can earn RRPLS for displaying appropriate expected behaviours throughout the school day.
RRPLS are earned individually and go towards students being able to spin their class PBS spinner, leading towards a positive reward.
PBS Points
Classes earn PBS points by achieving whole class goals each and every day.
When class PBS points reach certain totals, they are rewarded!
PBS Points Rewards are awarded for reaching:
10 POINTS
20 POINTS
30 POINTS
40 POINTS
50 POINTS
60 POINTS
75 POINTS
They reset at the beginning of every term!
PBS Badges
At every whole school assembly, students from PP to Year 6 are awarded PBS Badges.
One student from each class is awarded the badge for whatever PBS Value the assembly is for.
The PBS Badges then get sewn onto the students' hats and worn proudly each and every day at school.
Earning a PBS Badge is an extremely big honour!
